Don't forget those who have helped -
with a gift.
I know the amount of effort that goes into hosting parties. Being in the party and
event industry for over 14 years I have seen first hand the tears and frustrations that go
hand in hand with hosting a party.
I have also seen the commitment of friends and family in assisting the organising and
consequently smooth running of an event.
There is and will always be one or two people who do far more than would be ever expected
by any normal standards.
What they are providing to those hosting a party is a gift. It is an intangible gift of
time and dedication, it is a special gift that only a friend or family member can extend
as a warm gesture of their caring towards you.
With this in mind it continually surprises me, that these very special people who have put
so much time in assisting the host in hosting a perfect event get nothing more that a
quick thank you reference during the night - if they are lucky.
There are lot of people who don't even get the quick thank you.
What is more appropriate for the party host is to present each of your helpers with a
small gift. Now remember these people have already given you an intangible gift that could
never be valued on a monetary basis.
These people would never accept anything close to money for their services - but would
gladly accept a token gift of recognition for the help and the support they have provided
over the previous few weeks.
Recognise them by giving the gift during the event - it doesn't have to be a gift of great
cost because the sentimental value will far outweigh the cost of the gift.
Publicly recognise them and thank them.
Don't forget those who have helped with a gift.
